ABOUT IIMA

Founded in 1961, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has emerged as India’s leading management institute, and is regularly ranked among the Top 50 business schools of the world. The institute is spread over a green 100-acre campus, and boasts of having one of the landmark creations of Louis Kahn, the world famous architect. The campus is divided into an older segment made of red bricks and a newer segment made out of concrete and they are linked to each other through a subway pass. The campus hosts around 1,500 students and 100 faculty members working in various management areas and sectors, executive education participants, staff and a range of flora and fauna.

IIMA runs a two-year MBA, two year Food and Agribusiness MBA, one year MBA, Management Development Programs, and a Fellow Programs in Management (equivalent to a PhD). To develop academic and cultural interaction the institute has created a double degree program at the post graduate level with ESSEC, University of Bocconi, HEC School of Management, European Business School, University of Cologne, and ESCP-Europe Business School. It also has a one-term exchange program which provides intentional exposure to the students.

Beside these notable programs and collaborations, the institute gives back to the field of management by running a faculty development program specially designed for management faculty of other institutes. Several executive programs are conducted by the institute for training private sector companies and government departments. Along with the case center (a collaborative venture with Harvard Business School Publishing), 8 other interdisciplinary centers and groups are being administered at the institute.

Research constitutes an integral part of the academic activity of the institute. The institute library houses nearly 200,000 books, thousands of annual reports and several digital archives. It has a large number of e-resources, company and country databases, e-journal and books databases and research support tools/databases. The institute funds research projects and case writing activity which over the years has led to a rich repository of monographs, technical notes, cases, and journal articles.

IIMA also hosts excellent sports facilities, a swimming pool and a creche.
